Major General Timothy J. Donnellan – The Adjutant General, Idaho/Commanding General, Idaho National Guard

Maj Gen Timothy J. Donnellan is The Adjutant General, Idaho/Commanding General, Idaho National, Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho. As the Adjutant General, he ensures the continued readiness of the Idaho National Guard Soldiers and Airmen, supporting both the State and Federal mission, as well as providing ready Soldiers and Airmen to respond to stateside emergencies at a moment’s notice. He is in command over the state’s Army and Air National Guard units, as well as all other entities within the Idaho Military Division.

Maj Gen Donnellan was born in Tampa, Florida. He graduated from Purdue University in 1990, where he earned his Baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering. He joined the Air Force in 1992 and earned his commission through ROTC. He served on Active Duty as a Security Forces Officer, Air Liaison Officer and an A/OA-10 Instructor Pilot prior to joining the Idaho Air National Guard in 2002. Maj Gen Donnellan has served as the Chief of 124th Operations Group Standardization Evaluation as well as the 190th Fighter Squadron Chief of Scheduling / Training prior to being assigned to the 124th ASOS in 2012. He was assigned as the IDANG Chief of Staff in 2014, and selected as the 124 FW Commander in 2015. Maj Gen Donnellan is a Combat Veteran A-10 “Thunderbolt II” pilot and has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Prior to his current position, Maj Gen Donnellan served as Assistant Adjutant General/Commanding General of the Idaho Air National Guard, and prior to that position he served as the 124th Fighter Wing Commander.
